CSM Larry Forrest

AFNORTH Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Larry Forrest was born in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and enlisted in military service in February of 2000. His most recent assignment was serving as the Brigade Operations Sergeant Major for 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade.

Throughout his career, CSM Forrest has served in every leadership position typical to an infantry NCO from Team Leader through his most recent posting as the BDE OPS SGM. His career began in 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, HI where he served from 2000-2003 before moving to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment Fort Lewis, WA. During his assignment in Fort Lewis, CSM Forrest deployed twice to Iraq; once for 13 months from 2003-2004 and again for 15 months from 2006-2007. Upon return from his second deployment, CSM Forrest served from 2008-2011 as a Ranger Instructor in support of the 4th Ranger Training Battalion. This tour of duty was followed by assignment as a Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant in 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment (Airborne) where he also deployed to Afghanistan from 2011-2012. After a successful deployment, CSM Forrest was selected and reassigned to serve with the Asymmetric Warfare Group as an Operational Advisor with focus on Ukraine and Eastern Europe following the annexation of Crimea. After four years, CSM Forrest moved to 2CR where he served as a First Sergeant and Operations SGM until his selection for the Sergeant Major Academy in 2020.

CSM Forrest holds a Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management with a certificate in Intelligence Analysis. His military training includes all levels of NCOES, Ranger School, Airborne and Jumpmaster courses, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course, SERE-C, Air Assault, Personnel Recovery Theater Planners Course, Operational Advisor Training Course, Combat Advisor Training Course, Security Cooperation Planners Course, Pathfinder and numerous other supplementary courses.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

CSM Forrest is married and has one daughter.
