CSM Sue-Ellyn S. Baker

AFNORTH Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Sue-Ellyn S. Baker is a native from the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She migrated to the United States of America in May of 2000 at the age of 19 and joined the United States Army on August 1st of that same year. She enlisted as a 75B, Administrative Specialist and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Advance Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Command Sergeant Major Baker’s previous assignments include the 1ST Cavalry Division G1 Sergeant Major, Fort Hood, Tx; the Southern European Task Force, Africa, Vicenza, Italy; Human Resources Command (North), Military Pay Transition Branch, Indianapolis, Indiana; the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 9th Military Information Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 94th Military Police Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 82nd Paratroopers Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 6th Ordnance Battalion, Camp Carroll, Korea; and 177th Military Police Detachment, Fort Drum, New York. While assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Sergeant Major Baker deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring freedom as a Human Resources Sergeant.

Command Sergeant Major Baker’s military and civilian education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Advance and Senior Leaders Course, Battle Staff, Small Group Instructor Training Course, Staff and Faculty Development Training Course, SHARP Foundation Course, Basic Airborne School, Brigade S-1 Course, Manpower & Force Management Course, Human Resources Plans and Operations Course, Sergeants Major Academy (Class 70), the Adjutant General Pre-Command Course, the Battalion Command Sergeant Major Pre-Command Course and Development Course. She holds an Associate Degree in Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management, magna cum laude, from Park University. Command Sergeant Major Baker has also completed her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Excelsior College. She holds a certification as a Professional in Human Resources and a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Command Sergeant Major Baker’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (6), Army Commendation Medal (6), Army Achievement Medal (1), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge. Command Sergeant Major Baker is a recipient of the Adjutant General’s Corps Major General Horatio Gates Bronze Medal.
