LTC Ebrima F. M’Bai

AFSOUTH Commander

Lieutenant Colonel Ebrima F. M’Bai became the Battalion Commander for Allied Forces South, NATO Brigade, on 22 June 2022.

LTC M’Bai enlisted in the U.S Army, and upon completion of basic and individual training, he was assigned to Grafenwoehr, Germany.  He graduated from OCS as a Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned in the Adjutant General Corps.

After graduation from Adjutant General Basic Course, he was assigned as Squadron S1 and subsequently the Information Operations Officer in the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry, 173D Airborne Brigade Combat Team.  After two deployments to Afghanistan with the 173D, he attended the Adjutant General Advanced Course.  Subsequent assignments include Company Commander, 30th AG Battalion, 192nd Infantry Brigade, Fort Benning, GA; Aide de Camp to IMCOM Deputy Commanding General, Fort Sam Houston, TX;  Army Interagency Fellowship Program as a Political-Military Affairs Officer at the Department Of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs – Office of Security Assistance in Washington DC; Brigade S1 with the 130th Engineer Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Schofield Barracks, HI; AG Majors Assignment Officer, Human Resource Command, Fort Knox, KY; Assistant Executive Officer to the Army G-9, Pentagon, Washington DC; J1 Branch Chief for Operations, Plans and Readiness, US Indo Pacific Command, Camp H.M Smith, HI.

LTC M’Bai’s education includes a dual Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts Degree from Webster University.  His military education includes Adjutant General’s Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Company Commander Course, Combat Live Saver Course, Airborne School, Total Army Instructor Training Course, and Army Command and General Staff College.

LTC M’Bai’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal (1 OLC), National Defense Service Medal,  Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2CS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (6 OLC), NATO Medal, the Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
