Command Sergeant Major Michael J. Asuncion enlisted in the United States Army from Hawaii in April of 1999 as a Human Resources Specialist. He graduated the United States Army’s Sergeants Major Course in the summer of 2020, Class 70 “Lead the Change!”, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resources from the Command and General Staff College.
Command Sergeant Major Asuncion’s assignments include: Fort Liberty, NC, Personnel Services Specialist for Bravo Detachment, 18th Personnel Services Detachment; Camp Coiner, Korea, Theater Officer Reassignments NCO for the 8th Personnel Command; Schofield Barracks, HI, Personnel Administration Sergeant for the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, deploying with them to Afghanistan in 2004; HQs, 25th Infantry Division, Division Command Sergeant Major’s Administrative Assistant; Wheeler Army Airfield, HI, Human Resources Sergeant with the 209th Aviation Support Battalion deploying with them to Iraq in 2006 and again in 2009; Fort Jackson, SC, Brigade Senior Human Resources Sergeant with the 193rd Infantry Brigade; Garden Grove, CA, US Army Recruiter with Fullerton Recruiting Company, 6th Recruiting Battalion; Fort Stewart, GA, Brigade Senior Human Resources Sergeant with the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, deploying with them to Afghanistan in 2017 and continuing within the brigade as the First Sergeant of the 90th Human Resources Company. He most recently served at Rock Island Arsenal, IL as the G1 Sergeant Major for the Army Sustainment Command, and the G1 Sergeant Major for First Army.
Command Sergeant Major Asuncion’s military awards include the Bronze Star (1 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 OLC), the Army Superior Unit Award, (1 OLC), the Army Recruiter Badge, the Driver and Mechanic Badge, and the Combat Action Badge.
Command Sergeant Major Asuncion is married and has five children.
